ROMAN AQUEDUCT

It represents a fascinating ancient water supply system that connected the Cemi River with the ancient Roman city of Duklja (Latin: Doclea), located near present-day Podgorica. This aqueduct was very important for supplying water to the city of Duklja, which was one of the most important urban centers in the region during the Roman period. Remains of the Roman aqueduct channel are visible near the Cemi River in the village of Dinoša as well as in the village of Omerbožaj. It is carved into solid rock. The width varies from 1.35 to 1.40 m, while the height exceeds 1 m. The base is square-shaped, arched with processed stone blocks, with hydraulic mortar used as a binding agent.
